Anglesea
Lying close to the south-eastern border of the Australian mainland, Anglesea is a seaside township in the state of Victoria. Directly fronting Bass Strait, the town is located along the Great Ocean Road about 115 kilometres south-west of Melbourne, the state capital. Established in 1884, its name is believed to be derived from Isle of Anglesey, a county off the north-west coast of Wales.
Anglesea, which has an estimated population of 2,300 residents, is part of the Local Government Area of Surf Coast Shire. The town is within the State District of Polwarth (in the Victorian Legislative Assembly) and the Federal Division of Corangamite (in the Australian House of Representatives).
